Description
A Hawaiian heirloom of unknown lineage, but most likely hailing from old SE Asian descent as far as my contemporaries and I can tell. A true gem for sativa lovers both indoors and outdoors, as well as a valuable breeding tool for people looking for a true breeding p1 parent of unique origin. I hesitate to call this an IBL as it’s such a bold claim, however, having grown thousands of different varieties it’s the only one I believe might fit the bill for such a claim. Every individual I have grown out has exhibited very uniform scents, growth characteristics and effect. The nose is layered and changes a bit between flowering and drying/curing. In flower I find it to have a very overwhelming earthy/mushroom scent (think of a rotting log on a damp forest floor covered in mycelium and fruiting bodies of mushrooms) with a sweet note underneath and a hint of pineapple, passion fruit and mint.
The sweet pineapple, mint and passion fruit seems to come out more after some time in the jar while the fungal personality remains intact but becomes less dominant. I have personally only grown this line indoors although I have several accounts from folks who have grown them outdoors as well. They tend to behave similarly in either situation however they require a bit more finesse and attention indoors as they stretch a LOT. Indoors I prefer to grow them from clone as the flowering time and stretch are slightly less. They will easily triple in size after flip and take around 12-14 weeks to ripen properly. Moving to 12/12 or shorter light cycle around 12-18” tall is paramount indoors. I have found that I get better yields flowering them smaller rather than larger indoors due to growth and feeding characteristics as well as the general lighting and environmental factors of indoor growing. Don’t cut off nitrogen too early or you’ll be disappointed with yield and quality but don’t try to put the juice to them either. While they like a good steady feeding they can easily get “the claw” if fed heavily as one would your more hardy modern hybrid varieties. I have no lab results for either cannabinoids or terpenes at this time as they don’t fit the bill for commercial production where testing is mandatory, however, I do intend to grow a fresh batch out in the near future and will provide full lab results then.
